Deus Ex...

character creation is also a possibility.
I wouldn't be surprised since Invisible War from before Human Revolution rebooted the franchise let you play a unisex named character named Alex that you could choose to be either Male or Female.

I still like Cyberpunk 2077, but i do see the mixed reception. the graphics are good but the presentation left quite a few feeling "old hat". ...shooting thugs and walking through crowds of NPCs. much of this was already happening 2 or 3 E3s ago with mankind divided.

Cyberpunk 2077 feels more like an extension to Deus Ex's universe. it's more than welcome to show off more driving and augmentation mechanics. it looks like a solid game with very familiar mechanics.

Not sure exactly if it's an extension of Deus Ex's universe. There's definitely similarities but I would just blame that on both being in a cyberpunk setting. Which I think the tabletop/pen and paper rpg Cyberpunk is based on was first published in the 80s, so some might argue that Deus Ex was the one doing the copying since it came out later in the late 90s. As for Cyberpunk 2077, I feel like CD Projekt Red might be trying to cater to Deus Ex, but they also aren't shying away from what they're famous for, which we saw from the Witcher was narrative content that had visceral violence and full frontal nudity. I mean in the 48 minute demo, not even 10 minutes in the player character is running through some psycho lab of goons who are holding a completely nude lady hostage, which Deus Ex aside from innuendo seemed to stay far away from sexual content. That and in the Deus Ex universe, while augmentation was a thing, you were seen as a freak/minority for being an 'Aug' while in Cyberpunk's setting having at least one implant seems to be the majority of the population. That and it seems Cyberpunk is going for more of a seamless open-world that sacrifices a character-driven narrative for freedom. Which might turn off sum, makes it so it plays more like an actual traditional rpg because the main point of tabletop rpgs is to for lack of a better term. 'choose your own adventure' and deal with the consequences along the way unlike Witcher or something like Mass Effect where everything is more linear and focused on characters that are already established before you even take control of them in the game. That said, I'm not too worried about the narrative seeming too generic because of the freedom because if CDPR manages to make enough quests as cool as the one in the demo, then I don't see an issue of people getting too bored if they are honest about how much freedom you have, because there are also those players who find stuff like Witcher or Mass Effect too linear and lacking options because you're not really allowed to 'break the narrative' or do something that might be considered 'out of character' in the sense of you roleplaying that character. I just hope going with an actual 'choose your own adventure' rpg works out because it seems CDPR is going full 'pen and paper rpg in video game format' even if it is risky, not even BioWare with AD&D tried this type of scope.

I suggest just using the bittorrent file that's already linked, even though it's a torrent file it didn't take me more than an hour to download because there are plenty of peer seeds to torrent the file from at the moment.

If you want to see it at 60fps, download the video and use SVP Free. SVP does require 8 cores for 4k doubling. Or use the lowest quality. Still more fluid.

Have you seen the visuals on display here? Pop-in out the arse. Shimmering edges, no AF and non descript blobs claiming to be shadows. Nothing "next gen" about it (their words, not mine) The press were smoking something, clearly. I'd be saying the same whoever were making it. The press hyped this shit beyond what it deserved...unless of course, the press saw something else? That's my only explanation.

Even the one impressive part with the city centre full of life and NPC's was short lived. They turn the corner and it's like any other game again. Every other scene follwing. All the driving sections show almost completely empty streets again. Even less life on the streets than GTA! What exactly is this game doing technically or mechanically thats making you shit your pants? I'm not seeing it.

It's not next-gen to be honest, looks great, but like an end-gen game would look, specially considering that the release date is probably around that time, the only game from this year presentations that truly looks unbelievable for me in this gen is TLOU II with its animations, and Death Stranding with its face rendering and motion capture

Still, I wasn't hyped at all with Cyberpunk, but after seeing this video, is now in my point of view

Ghost of Tsushima not looking good enough?

As far as this "doesn't look next gen" consensus is going, I think most need to temper their expectations on what next gen is going to look like, because right now, we're in the era of diminishing returns. The likes of Ghost of Tsushima could very well be what an early next gen game could look like. Not because artistically it looks it, but because of how dynamic and alive it looks with its physics driven wind system that seems to affect everything in the frame. Dynamics will be the next big visual thing in terms of next generation, and that obviously means more densely detailed populated games, with animations and interaction of environments. A bit like this game, really.

Well, actually I was thinking in saying Ghost of Tsushima too, but I didn't want to sound so Sony based lol, but you're right, more like graphics, the games need an improvement in dynamics and interactions which are still being drawback because of the shitty CPU this generation has, if the next-gen has a more powerful CPU like the rumors say, it will be a great gen jump

I'm sure that if they did see a better demo it must have been on a PC as well, maybe even one that used one of Nvidia's fancy new RTX cards because it seems like people at Nvidia are trying to push the next generation later this year with stuff like ray tracing, and the closest thing to next gen consoles are the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X which are only for 4k enthusiasts. Games that are usually populated heavily with no sacrifice to fidelity require a lot of ram, which consoles seem to always be short on. I remember when the PS3 and Xbox 360 were easily outdated only a few years by PCs because Sony and Microsoft thought throwing only a single GB of ram was good enough to make larger games, didn't really work out for them in the long run.

"Cyberpunk 2077 — CD Projekt “Very Aware” that Many Don’t Like First-Person Perspective"

“We are firm in that decision. However, we’re very aware that a lot of people don’t like first-person, and there is a small number of people who can’t play first-person for a variety of reasons.”
https://www.dualshockers.com/cyberpunk-2077-first-...

they're aware of it but their minds are already made up. maybe at some point they'll add a 3rd person mode. it worked for Fallout and Destiny, it can work for cyberpunk as well. i hope they consider it.

. it worked for Fallout
That's debatable. Sure it has a third person camera but It's hardly viable for all systems within the game. It's an afterthought. Same as elders scrolls. Try picking up individual bottle caps in third person. Try shooting enemies real time in third person. It's nigh on broken. The game is clearly not supposed to be played start to end like that.

Thankfully fallout has VATS meaning no aiming is necessary...but that's something cyberpunk doesn't. I'm not sure such a janky execution would appease the people asking for it.

It wouldn't shock me if they revealed this demo were a downgrade from the last private showing.
They're clearly being overly cautious after everyone freaked out about Witcher downgrades.

Cyberpunk Looks more than good enough to make any "Sony exclusive" look outdated
(i mean, do Games like Last of Us 2 or Ghost of Tsushima Look good? yes, compared to other PS4games... do They Look amazing/breathtaking? ehm no, sorry)

The press obviously saw the exact same demo, since the "gameplay description videos" on YouTube all describe the exact same sequence of events as seen in the gameplay reveal video. (And no one in the press mentioned a downgrade between the press demo and the public gameplay reveal video.)

But even if the visuals in the press demo should have been different, the gameplay shown here still doesn't hype me. It's a shooter. Period. And there is nothing special about the worldbuilding or the characters, Detroit: Become Human or Deus Ex: Mankind Divided did both a lot better.

In The Witcher 3, you meet five interesting and cleverly written non player characters within the first 15 minutes. In the Cyberpunk 2077 demo, you meet five generic and one-dimensional 1980s action movie stereotypes in the same time. Great.

I agree with William Gibson who twittered "The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 strikes me as GTA skinned-over with a generic 80s retro-future". In another post, I called the scenery of Night City "the cleanest slum on earth" - Golem City in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided did a better job at showing a cluttered space that seems lived in, and that game is two years old now.

I don't think it's that fair to compare a big and dense open world with linear games like TLoU, or even other open-world games that are either released or have a smaller scale. Remember, this demonstration is still in alpha stage and the game looks more complex and with a lot more customization than the games people are comparing it with.

Where are the high levels of complexity and customization in this gameplay demo? We see that the player obviously will have several implants to choose from, which was also a central part of DXMD. And we are told that we could solve a quest the sneaky way or the violent way - a lot of games have been there and done that. There is nothing special about the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo, neither in terms of graphics nor gameplay. And THIS made the whole press go insane? I don't get it.
