I understand that. But MGSV was not a good game. Fans blame the publisher, I blame the creator.
And except for Zone of the Enders, and Boktai (which wasn't a succes over here), he only produced Metal Gear games. So decades of amazing games is not true.
It's like Gabe: a god to many, a lazy game creator to me.
He's on his own now with a huge budget and a completely new game. I'm interested, but not hyped.
MGSV was an amazing GAME. Mechanically one of the best third person experiences out there. The problem was the rest, and when you're the fith installment in a series known for cinematic story telling, and distinct characters and you basically ditch it all because you have a boner for a hack actor like keifer fucking suderland...that was where the game failed...not the gameplay.

So in regards to kojima being behind amazing GAMES, He has been. MGS plays great, ZOE plays great, PT plays great, policenauts was great and so was snacher. He has a good track record, and for his mainline work of MGS the gameplay has improved with every iteration and the latest blew most similar games away.

Theres good reason to be excited about what hes working on next. That fact its so out there conceptually just makes it all the more intriguing.

I dunno. I don't get the hero worshipping of Kojima at all, just like I don't get the fuss around this at all either. Yeah, sure it's interesting...if it were a TV show that is. Graphically, yeah, looks brilliant there, I'll give it that, but I don't play graphics, and what's been shown here is far too vague to get excited about as far as plot goes. It could be a jumbled mess. I want to see an actual game, with actual engaging design mechanics and whatnot. Remember stuff like Quantum Break looked stunning, but the game itself wasn't memorable at all because it seemed to get confused if it was a TV show or a game and came across as being mediocre at both.

or you know, maybe it's kojima's decades old reputation of making amazing games that make people excited.
That's just acknowledging that there's nothing to this trailer and that Kojima is a magic word.

Remember stuff like Quantum Break.
I remember how the protagonist looked some like every day guy, then they changed it to some college model dude.

FFS! If you don't feel hyped and excited for this game and hate Kojima's work, why linger in the comments section of one of his games? Such wet blankets. lol It's like saying how bad McDonalds food is while eating a Big Mac in a McDonalds restaurant, such an individual is pretty fucked in the head.

Edit: BTW, can't wait to see some actually gameplay.

How many times does Lord Kojima gotta prove himself with amazing games? Ye non-belivers need to repent. Kojima's weirdness speaks to a weird person's soul. I should know, because my soul is weird. This trailer represents my visions I would have in grade school. Only a genius (like myself and Kojima) can come up with this stuff. Death Stranding will be a bonified masterpiece. Amen.

What? How is MGSV "not a good game"?
It's is one of my favorite games of the gen. And I have absolutely ZERO reverence for the series or for Kojima.

except the intrigue for the title doesn't stem from the fact it's kojima, but the visual concepts on display. fucking cliffy B could have made this trailer and i'd still be as intrigued.

when a zelda is announced, you know what to expect. when a last of us is announced, you know what to expect. when a halo is announced, you know what to expect. there's no fucking surprise or intrigue within this industry anymore. everything is painfully predictable even when it's a new ip. they all just sit neatly in defined pigeon holes. it's nice to see something so refreshingly different, even if it is all conceptual storytelling stuff for now.

the fact we don't even know how this is going to play just increases the intrigue. it's like looking at a david lynch trailer. it might be batshit insane, but when he's the only one doing that in a sea of super hero movies, it makes for compelling viewing.

This trailer seems similar to Alan Wake with the darkness possessing people and things and the light being your only weapon.

except the light doesn't seem to be a weapon. it's just a "camera". seems to detect the presence of the creatures but does very little else outside of that, almost like the radio static of silent hill if you think about it. i still think we'll be using "guns" of some type. but i also expect a lot of stealth and a lot of survival horror game elements.

I said it looked similar when Alan Wake was first shown I wasn't sure how it would play. I recall in one trailer all kinds of things like vehicles been hurled toward the character even buildings being pulled off and then there was the developers talking about Alan's writing it all sounded freaky to me until they showed the gameplay. This trailer looks freaky to me in a similar fashion but I'm sure it will make sense once the gameplay is revealed.

yeah, alan wake sadly got a massive downgrade in scope and turned into linear third person shooter. shame really because the original trailers and concepts of finding clues, talking to people and pacing together the plot during the normality of the day, but having to do everything before nightfall when the nasties came out sounded really interesting to me, almost silent hill-like with the 2 distinct "worlds".

apparently the rain in the game makes you age rapidly and die. which i never really picked up from the trailer, i saw the character pinned by the truck aging, but didn't realize it was the rain doing that.

also the underwater area you see in the trailer is the purgatory you visit when you "die" in the game. reedus's character can basically have out of body experiences and you explore and pick up items in first person. they say it's kind of the equivalent of the continue screen with the countdown timer in arcade games, but it almost sounds more like the death state in something like prey (original)

the babies are also essentially batteries apparently. it wasn't until the baby is passed to reedus's character that we see his camera light arm activate. so i guess some sort of matrix like situation where people are used as batteries? who knows. lol

I hate when they downgrade games like that, Dark Sector comes to mind, but at least they did it under another name Warframe. I don't think Kojima has many constraints put on him creatively, that's why I'm excited and hopeful that what we're seeing is likely what we'll be getting. Kojima Unleashed. :)

Yes, that baby in the pod does look like the unplugged guys in the real world in the movie Matrix, I was thinking that when I saw it but didn't notice his light came on after being connected. wow I need to look at some analysis videos on this trailer.

i imagine the only constraint from sony is release schedule. they'll probably want it for 2019 along with last of us 2 and probably ghost of tsushima. but beyond that i imagine he's pretty free to do what he wants conceptually.

I think Sony did no wrong this Gen. They just seem to have the talent in spades. Even PSVR's sold over 2 million I read somewhere, and it's a damn fine headset, very comfy. Great time to be a gamer. :)
