GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Those of you who played Shenmue I & II on Dreamcast back in the days know how important the 2 games have been for the evolution of our favorite medium. As you know, SEGA decided to bring them back on PS4, Xbox One and PC in a remastered edition due today. Here are a few videos recorded on Xbox One X to illuminate your afternoon with a bit of nostalgia.

Broken record, but I will forever wish Sega had given them the "Kiwami" treatment both Yakuza 1 & 2 received. Still gonna play the hell out of them. Properly remastered or not, a classic is still a classic.

PS. Any chance of a livestream? One can hope. :)

Aged horrendously though. It's a shame they didn't really buff up the visuals, controls and re-do the voice work. Give it a Yakuza like overhaul. Back then it may have been ambitious beyond words, but today, it's litterally a small selection of relatively baron and small environments and a few dozen characters to interact with...

Playing through the first game now though is painful. Like there's this layer of nostalgia that's making me appreciate things, but overall it's just bad. The controls are terrible. And the dialogue is at such a low , frankly unacceptable quality...and that's ignoring the bad writing and voice acting.

If I were writing a review I'd tell people to avoid it, say everything about the game is awful, but then still give it an 8 purely because of nostalgia and the memories of playing it when it came out 20 years ago. But the people who weren't in that position 20 years ago? They seriously need not apply.
