Our videos of Wreckfest

The PC release of Wreckfest is still planned for 2017, but obviously the version we played yesterday is still work in progress, with many things that are not final yet. We were surprised to see that cars now turn more easily, which makes the handling much easier and more arcadey, something that might not be to everyone's liking. The feedback we get from the track is also a bit disappointing, with too few vibrations in the controller to really feel the car and understand what's going on. That said, the version we played yesterday is not final, so let's hope the game will turn out well when the game is finally ready to leave Early Access this Winter.

E3: THQ Nordic to publish Wreckfest

In early access since 2014, Bugbear's demolition derby game Wreckfest will finally get a full release this year on PC and in 2018 for console versions thanks to THQ Nordic who partnered with the developer. The game will receive first many updates in the following months, including career mode, car customization, more cars and tracks and a new multiplayer server.

Wreckfest gets updated

Wreckfest is still under development and it's been a while now, but it was granted a new update a little while ago, the biggest change being the redesign of the first gravel track we have known ever since the game hit early access back in 2014. Check out how it now looks compared to the original version. The developers have promised that more consequent and frequent updates will be made available starting in February 2017.

2 more videos for Wreckfest

Wreckfest was finially announced on consoles not so long ago, so we thought it was time to give the game a little more coverage. We have recorded 2 more videos, one in 1080p/MSAA8x and the other in 1440p/MSAA4x. As you''ll see the Steam FPS counter remains more or less at 57 fps, but it's due to the capture with Mirillis Action!

Wreckfest gets a new update

It's been more than a year since we last showed you Wreckfest (aka Next Car Game by the developers of the Flatout series) so since the game just got a new big update, we thought you'd be interested to see how far they have come. The game now runs perfectly well on our setup, even when fully maxed out, which wasn't the case a few months ago. There is still work to be done obviously, to finish the newly added tracks (Sandpit #1 and Tarmac #2 have placeholders as you'll see), to add animations to the pilot and to make menu navigation more practical with a gamepad, but they're definitely going in the right direction. On top of that, Bugbear announced the upcoming addition of real tracks to complete the current list of available locations.

New Car Game crashes itself

While waiting for our gameplay videos of Mario Kart 8 as sson as we can, we thought we'd give you the complete opposite tonight. Enjoy a pair of gameplay videos from Next Car Game assembled using sequences taken from the replay mode. We've dropped in a bit of music as a tonque-in-cheek reference to our childhood in the first video, while trying our hand at mixing soft music with brutal imagery, not unlike certain trailers, in the second. Enjoy!

Our videos of Next Car Game

Everyone here knows Bugbear, the Finnish studio responsible for both the excellent, yet underrated, Flatout series (Flatout 1 and 2 on PC, XBOX and PS2 and, of course, Ultimate Carnage on 360) as well as the recent Ridge Racer reboot not so long ago (a game we enjoyed but found to share little with the series roots). Eager to jump back into the world of muscle cars, the team has recently launched "Next Car Game" (working title) through crowdfunding. The game is currently available via Early Access on Steam and, thus far, feels like a worthy successor to Flatout and Destruction Derby. Read on for more.

KORNdog i honestly think they'd do better making something on a smaller scale. like an isometric action RPG. that spiders (developer) could do with going that direction too. (7 Hours ago)

KORNdog @Moonwalker: it just looks like a typical game from them to me. like they bit off more than they can chew and the results are just mediocrity across the board. (7 Hours ago)

Moonwalker @KORNdog: the facial animations are bullshit yes, animations in general are passable, combat isn't nearly as bad as I expected though. The world so far has been great, very very nice indeed. (7 Hours ago)
