GSY Review Xbox One

Rise of the Tomb Raider has been a very controversial title ever since it was announced as an Xbox One exclusive 15 months ago. This controversy will now - albeit still partially probably - be gone as we have finally been able to play and complete the game and are now able to tell if Microsoft's bet has been the right one!
Note: No new videos since apparently the NDA still forbids us to show you more than we did last week. It's odd, but we're not taking any chances.

As usual the full text of the review is available in the French version of the site, but we still translated our verdict and the plus / minus section.

i'd hope at least 2 of those downsides will be removed once the other versions are released

i think with the next game they need new writers and they need to do away with that terrible voice actress. her attitude needs work too...move her more towards the lara of old.

if you managed to get through the story in the last game i can't imagine this is THAT much worse. i mean, story and character wise the last one was pretty awful.

Well it's not the story is awful, it's mostly that it's just there to support what happens in the game, and not the other way around. I'd say it's less ridiculous than the 2013 game, but it's still more serviceable than anything else.

Fair point. It was indeed meh, till some point it was okay but yeah, later it was bad, can't be worse :D Actually not many games have great scripts. I enjoyed the previous TR so yeah, it won't be dealbreaker but the framerate maybe. I'm looking for the analysis video

I must be insane, cuz I don't remember the last Tomb Raider having that bad of a story. Its been a couple years though, my memory is a bit foggy

The gameplay was better than the story however the story wasnt that bad just your usual video game story really.

The controversy is not gone for me.. This is a perfect example why I despise consolebuilders and their exclusivity deals.. This stuff is only there for their coperate interests, we as gamers do not benifit from it whatsoever..

MS en Sony etc can forget me buying into their little monopolies just to play certain games they keep away from us.. I say FU to them..

These days with so many games on the market, resisting is not that hard..

I also never preorder any games or buy season passes.. People need to smart up and not let the publishers lure them into spending money before you know what you spend it on..

What is hard though is convincing gamers.. Most are just ignorant or simply do not care.. The greedy publishers and other corperate scum love that and want to keep it like that.. All I can do is just keep spamming the message everywhere gamerelated in the hope some read it and smart up and spread the message aswell..

Indeed. For me however, there is a few IPs that are absolute must haves at launch and Tomb Raider happens to be one of them. (The others being Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil and Final Fantasy) hence why I gave in. I dont buy passes or DLC either.

The rest of the reviews have set in and it's doing fantastic. It's been 18 years since they've delivered a AAA sequel. TR: Angel of Darkness, Legend and Underworld were all pretty entertaining but at least they have a better formula to work with now. Crystal Dynamics can take the reboot and add more locations and content to it.

I wasn't sure what to expect but almost all the reviews I've read so far actually say great things about the story and the game is getting really high scores, after all this praise I think I'm gonna grab this very soon.

Beautiful game, even on 360. Great job by the devs. The game of what I have seen plays awesome too with different ways to play, explore and replay the game. Microtransaction is not good but apart from lara itself the game seems to have delivered and I thought it would end up ok at best. Hopefully Uncharted4 will be like this as well. Also hope the game does well financially and late release on PS4 will not hamper it.

I like Tomb Raider aswell, that's why it pisses me off even more I cannot play it right now.. But I will not give in and buy a crappy piece of hardware to play the game with crappy settings and crappy performance.. We'll see if I'm still willing to buy it next year when it does come out for PC.. Depends on what other games have my attention then..

That's hilarious. I have both consoles and you calling the XB1 crappy is laughable. If that's what you believe, then you deserve to wait. No matter the generation, ignorance is still very expensive and costly.

BTW, the game is great. Its so much better than the last one and anything currently exclusive on my PS4. Doesn't matter, its about the games right?
