Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One X

Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One X

Red Dead Redemption may not have been updated for Xbox One X, but some people still asked us to record some footage on Microsoft's new console. The result is unsurprisingly similar to what can be seen on the base Xbox One, with probably better texture filtering. The game would clearly benefit by having the same 4K patch applied than Halo 3, Oblivion or Fallout 3, but nothing has been announced yet. One might also think that Rockstar would be interested in making a 4K remaster of their iconic title, but for some (odd) reason, L.A Noire comes first.

Looks about the same as the PS4 (PS Now), I'm quiet happy that at least there is an option to play this game on current gen consoles :)

If it gets the enhanced patch like the others have been getting then oh boy.

The red dead redemption code was a mess that they would have to basically recode the entire thing to make a remaster. The LA noire remaster was probably much much easier to make. Also la noire was awesome and it still sucks we didn't get that sequel (Whore of the Orient) so im glad we are getting a 4k remaster at least. I would love if the did max payne 3 next

So many people say that and while I don't doubt it's true, at some point someone of considerable influence at Rockstar will have to ask himself/herself one thing:

How much money will I make if I spend a "little" money to undo the messy code and recode everything?

I say "little" because compared with the immense potential ROI (Return on Investment) they would make, that's really very little. For starter, they could release it on PS4, XB1, Switch and even PC - 4 platforms.

Second, they could always add a First-Person mode like they did with GTA 5, which would be great in of itself, but also perfect for VR headsets - Just like they're doing the VR missions for L.A. Noire. Which opens it to Occulus, Rift, and etc.

Finally, with the code already redone they could later in 1 or 2 years, port it to mobile devices on both iOS and Android. Hell, they could even release it on Linux and Mac if they wanted to.

Sooner or later, they will have to recode Red Dead Redemption, otherwise they will never, ever, be able to release it again, which is just stupid and dumb to take the opportunity to gain so much money because you need to invest a "little" to recode it.

If they really don't wanna do it themselves, then all they have to do is to just hire Nixxes, HexaDrive, BluePoint (after they're done with the Shadow of the Colossus remake) or any other great porting developer to make a great port of the game. Any of them would love to be hired to make a great port of such a masterpiece.

If it was a copyright issue or contract issue, then I could understand as those can take many years to resolve or just simply are never resolved. But having to recode as an "excuse" can only go so far till it stops making sense both technologically and, more importantly, financially.

If many Japanese developers and indie studios are releasing their games on PC many years after their release on console(s), with an admitedly smaller potential market and they're still getting profit compared to the investment of having to port it to PC, almighty billion dollars worth Rockstar can do it.

PS. Rockstar can just use 10% of all the money they earn in 1 month of GTA 5's sales and recode RDR. Profit deal!
