There are two rules to success:
___________________________________
1. Never tell all you know.
Pretty generous to pay to improve my experience later on
(In all seriousness; at this moment I'm not sure if I will get either one of the new consoles)
"First come smiles, then comes lies. Last is gunfire"
Xbox voice recognition is spotty for some things it seems.
Runs super quiet. Interface is almost a quick as I'd hoped.
Interface isn't as intuitive as I'd had hoped.
I hope they get voice recog patched to make it flow nicer, and easier.
I can't seem to set up a DLNA server stream from my laptop?
Getting online was a seamless breeze (hardwired ethernet)
BF4 is the only thing I've played. Graphical upgrade? Yeah, but not that pronounced. It does look really good, I don't notice jaggies or aliasing issues. Head lean with Kinect works OK, you can refine it and dial it in with a slider percentage, I need to tweak it a bit.
It will take some getting used to. I can't figure out how to send someone a voice message or to join party chat... kinda clunky.
I kind of wish that the interface was a cross between what it currently is and what the Xbox 360 is. Again, not as intuitive as I'd hoped. Does look very nice though.
Just some of my quick impressions thus far.

Prepare To Drop!!
Quotes stolen:
At the same time, almost as a feature of the game, it is an entertainment experience, and with that it's a fusion of a game and a live action show. So...once again, like with Alan Wake, we're using episodic TV series-esque basing for the storytelling, but it still ships on one disc, everything, both the game and the show.
And the idea is...they're meant to be consumed together, and the idea is that you first play through an act of the game, and then you get to watch an episode of the show. And so they're...kind of, acts of the game are inter-weaved with the episodes of the show. And what we have there kind of as a connecting tissue is that we have these moments of choice that are related to the fiction of time powers, and the antagonist, Paul Serene (sp?) who has the most powerful time powers of all. He has this, ability, this...junction ability, where he can see glimpses of different futures, of different timelines.
And actually in these junction moments, it's always like...a dynamic, player created cliffhanger at the end of each act of the game. You get to play the bad guy, you get to explore these glimpses and visions of two different futures at each junction point, and you make a choice which future comes to be. And with that, we shift to an episode of the show, and immediately there at the beginning of each episode, the first scene already clearly shows you alternate content depending on which choice you make.
And it works both ways, so very much, kind of, what you have in the game and what you do in the game reflects your custom experience of the show, but then again when you watch an episode of the show, you see things, learn things, that are clues for you when you go back to the next act of the game and play it through, with those clues you can find certain things and unlock further material."

Or, as another example. Like the dead space cartoons you can get on DVD that add to the universe but don't detract from the games if you don't watch them?
What I didn't know is the fact that you cannot use the system in english, when you're from Austria. So I set UK as my locale [voice recognition now works in English], to have games and subtitles in english. Hopefully it will get patched out.
Downloading the Day One patch also were a few minutes only for me. Disc-Drive is fine [tested Risky Business on BluRay]. Played Killer Instinct and really enjoyed it. Downloading games takes very long though because of the size. RYSE is at 91 % with DR, Fifa and Forza in queue. RYSE was 11 % when I went to bed 6 hours ago. So actually it's my maximum download rate.
Love the voice commands. If you say Xbox then all possible commands are written with a green font. Makes it very easy. Works 90 %. Sometimes it seems not to want to listen ... hahahaha
Very happy with my purchase. Will play RYSE now, as it is 92 % and more than ready to get started :D
PS: Gamestop-Employee rumour about a second free game for Day One Edition owners turned out not to be true - bummer.

Until there's an upfront promise of forwards & backwards compatibility, digital purchases are basically rentals tied to a single platform that will be dead in less than ten years.
Any game will be boring and unplayed at some point for me, I do want to get something out of it so trading it out of the question if you go digital, something I will never do.
